Yiddish Art Song

Want to get a Yiddish and non-speaking Yiddish audience excited about rare songs? In this class, you will learn some known and lesser-known Yiddish art songs, and learn how to add them into your Yiddish programming. Where you can find them, and how to create an accessible and impactful introduction to these pieces.

Through your own stories, find what songs fit you best, and learn how to pick pieces accordingly to highlight your individual personality, and find out how to convey this to any audience.

Come and brainstorm how singers and audiences help Yiddish art song continue into the future? How we can get composers interested to write new Yiddish art songs to continue this niche of song. Where can this be performed? How can this niche continue into the future?

Requirements:
For singers, auditors, classically trained is a plus, or anyone interested in learning more about classical Yiddish song. Please bring a prepared song program that you already perform, or would like to perform.

The hope is make this class interactive by putting together programs, introductions, and hearing and learning new pieces, and pieces that are brought to class. Non-singers are welcome to observe and learn more about this interesting niche and how to bring it to life in their own community.
