11/30 Workshop: Rare Gems of Yiddish Folk Song

Rare Gems of Yiddish Folk Song
Discover the expressive beauty of Yiddish folk song through rare and little-known treasures from historical collections. In this workshop, we’ll explore songs that tell vivid stories of people, their lives, emotions, and fates — music that has carried human experience across generations.
Participants will learn about the distinctive style of Yiddish singing, focusing on nuance, melismatic phrasing, ornamentation, and personal expression. Through listening, guided singing, and interpretation, we’ll uncover how these songs convey deep feeling and cultural memory. No prior knowledge of Yiddish language or repertoire is required — just an open ear, a curious heart, and a love for song.
